The Kindergarten - 2nd grade experience is very much the quintessential SDAC program that our long-time campers know and love, complete with a gazillion awesome activities, ridiculously fun theme days (Fun Fridays), swimming, and all the Super Duper fun they can handle!
Whereas the Preschool & Pre-K campers have 4 specialist-led activities per day, our Kindergarten - 2nd grade campers’ schedule consists of 5 specialist-led activity periods per day, plus snack and lunch time, each with an opportunity for some free play/unstructured time.
Activities
Activities are scheduled on a rotation within a two-week cycle, with art almost every day and other activities ranging from twice per week to once per session.

Groups
Campers are grouped by grade level. Each group has between 12-16 campers, depending on enrollment. Grouping requests are accepted, but not guaranteed.
Counselors/Staff
Each group has 2 adult counselors who are with the group for the duration of the session, plus one CIT (subject to CIT enrollment/availability). Additionally, each activity is led by a specialist instructor, so there are at least 3 adults with each group almost at all times. The overall ratio of staff to campers at SDAC is about 1:6. read more
Swimming / Waterplay
Campers have “swimming” and water play out on the field 1-2 times per week, depending on programming and scheduling for that session.
Water play consists of splish-splashy fun with hose, sprinklers, slip n slides, buckets, sponges, water toys and small pools (not more than 1-2 feet deep), under vigilant supervision from SDAC counselors and staff.
Swimming consist of playing in shallow, above ground pools that are age and size appropriate, under the watchful supervision of SDAC counselors and staff. read more
Fun Fridays
Every Friday is Fun Friday, when we have a different fun theme each week. Campers dress according to theme and our normal schedule is suspended for special activities, visitors and events. read more
Field Trips
Kindergarten - 2nd grade campers DO NOT take field trips. All activities are held onsite. Field trips are only available to campers 3rd grade and up. Towards the end of the summer, 1st and 2nd grade campers may be invited to join us on our Session 5 feild trip to the beach. This is optional and camp will continue as normal for those who elect not to go. read more
In addition to a few more activities per day, K - 2nd grade campers also enjoy some more advanced classes and activities in addition to the classic SDAC Activities.
